  • Bamboo Comparison

When buying bamboo products you must ensure the manufacturers are using high-quality raw materials that have been processed with kiln drying before laminating strips, which are used in the milling process. The use of poor raw materials, poor laminating machinery, and improper glue insertion will cause problems on multiple levels for the consumer.

There should be two anti-cupping notches. These notches are milled into the flooring boards on the bottom to ensure the stability of the product (no cupping, no warping etc.) under different environmental conditions. These notches also assist in the glue down installations as it gives a better adhesion point for the glues. This use of poor raw materials and bad milling procedures creates a high potential for future problems with the bamboo product.

If there are rolling waves of the core of the flooring board, this reveals the poor quality.

Look for the lack of milling precision on the tongue of the board, the edge should not be rounded or have very little definition.

There is often a lack of consistency of the lamination lines on the lower grade material. They often have angles, etc. On the Higuera Hardwoods, every lamination is straight and consistent.

Higuera Hardwoods stocks a full line of the finest Grade-A bamboo flooring, mouldings, stair parts, plywood's and veneers. We feel that the quality of our raw materials and the careful processing procedures we use make the construction and finish of our bamboo products superior to others on the market, let us prove it by requesting a FREE SAMPLE.
